Longtime, new patrons and staff celebrate McGarvey's 30th By VANESSA FRANKO, Staff Writer When Mike Ashford bought McGarvey's, he was a pilot for Eastern Airlines. Some people thought he was crazy to risk a venture into the saloon world. But now, 30 years after Mr. Ashford bought the City Dock landmark, he can raise a toast to his own success. "Nobody would guess that the airline wouldn't be here and the bar would," he said, laughing. Starting at 11:30 a.m. yesterday, longtime and new patrons and staff celebrated 30 years of the Annapolis institution.
